The Learning Pod
K-1ST
Students in this Pod will focus on foundational skills such as phonics, phonics spelling rules, reading fluency, grammar, handwriting, math facts, counting, and cardinality, social studies, and science.
This cognitive learning style also helps formulate a love for oral and written communication including the art of questioning, discussing, brainstorming, composing, drafting, editing, and presenting information. Building, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and decoding have cognitive process behind this learning style. In math, numbers and operations, measurements, geometry and word problems all have cognitive work habits as well.
The Mastery Pod
2ND-4TH
The Mastery Pod will help students deepen their understanding of content knowledge in reading, writing, math, social studies and science. The Mastery Learning Style also helps students to continue to be challenged, to apply their prior knowledge, to build new knowledge and solve real world problems.
In the Mastery Pod students will engage in more project based learning, group work, and collaboration. The use of technology to present information and conduct research to elevate their creative thinking.
The Exploratory Pod
4TH-8TH
The Exploratory Pod will help students focus on an interest based enrichment so they can explore their gifts and talents in a safe supportive community. Real world problem solving will be a priority to the teachers so learning continues to feel relevant to their life experiences. In this pod the teacher will be sensitive to their social emotional needs. Deeper learning of content knowledge will require a more independent levels of learning and teachers will be there to support growing up and being held accountable for new learning which can be hard at this stage in a students life.
